Eating better, even when your schedule won't allow it

Updated: Oct 18, 2018

So you’re super busy, right? And ordering in is just soooo easy… but it’s also expensive and unhealthy. If you’re short on time, funds, and want to eat healthier, then listen up.

Cooking doesn’t have to be hard! No really! Here are some ways to help make home cooked meals an “every day thing”:

1. Take that short detour to the grocery store on your way home

It’s right there! And you know you won’t go once you’ve settled in at home. Most grocery stores are open 24 hours, so no matter what time you get home, there’s no excuse not to stop by. Plus, you only have to go once, maybe twice a week!

2. ~~~MeAL pRep TakES ToO LOng~~~~

Shhhhhhh… no it doesn’t. It takes the same amount of time cooking 1 single meal would. On top of that, you’ll have ready-to-eat meals for the whole week! Cook something you’ll enjoy throughout the week, and try to schedule in cooking time when you’re not super busy.

3. Don’t reach for that phone…

Yes, we’ve established ordering in is tempting, but don’t do it. If you have some major cravings, beat them by having some of your fav snacks around. The tip on meal prep will also help too, since you'll have pre-prepared meals at hand.

4. Buy ingredients you know how to cook

Experimenting is great! Trying new foods is awesome! But don’t buy foods you know you’ll never use. They just rot away in the fridge until your roommate gets mad and tells you to throw it out. Now you’ve wasted money and your roommate hates you (not really they’ll always love us).

5. Don’t have pasta again

Pasta is both delicious and easy to make. But those carbs are….. not so great. Buy vegetables and try not to buy junk. The battle is won at the grocery store! If you don’t buy it, you won’t eat it.

Now go on, make yourself some food!

it's not grocery shopping unless you buy a box of spring salad and then throw it away a 14 days later, unopened

Caro you just called me out soooo hard with this post! I am personally victimized. You've inspired me to get my meal prep act together this weekend.
