5 Tips and Tricks to Double Your Productivity as a Student!

Us students know how it feels around this time of the year. Commitments are overwhelming, and it seems like you have too much to do with too little time. So what do you do? Sure, grades are important, but what about other life necessities such as being social and getting enough sleep? In order to achieve a more balanced life, try using these 6 tips and tricks that will be sure to increase your productivity!

Time goes by so quickly when you’re having fun, remember to keep track of it!

While you want to have some personal time to relax, it’s very difficult to set it aside when you’re not properly managing your time. The first step you must do is begin breaking down any large assignments into individual and smaller tasks. This will make them much more manageable! If you want to take it even further, try setting time goals for yourself for each task to make sure you’re on track to reach your goals. Eventually, doing this will become a habit and you’ll also greatly reduce your stress.

Breaks are just as important

Seems counter intuitive, eh? Well it actually isn’t, since breaks have been proven to increase productivity when managed correctly. Our minds tend to lose focus over time, so it’s important to reset sometimes. In order to reduce your fatigue, try taking small breaks throughout your intense work day. Specifically, we recommend a few minutes every hour and larger 30 minute breaks every couple hours. Use this time to reflect and relax.

What you put into your body affects your work

Imagine putting low quality gasoline into your brand-new sports car, will it perform at its peak potential? No, and neither will you. A healthy and balanced diet will ensure that you’re getting the proper nutrients your brain needs to function. Moreover, you’ll find that your energy levels will gradually increasing, which will significantly impact your work ethic! Lastly, eating healthy will prevent illness and strengthen your immune systems, which will decrease your likelihood of getting sick.

Sleep, sleep, and more sleep!

Will too much sleep reduce the amount of time you have to work? Yes, of course. However, will a lack of sleep reduce your productivity by a much larger factor? You bet it will. For students, getting at least 7.5 hours of sleep is absolutely essential for maintaining your maximum performance. Also, to get the highest quality of sleep, try to wind your mind and body down before bed with meditation or light exercise.

Plan ahead and combine errands

We all hate running errands, especially if we have a lot of work to get done. But they are a necessity, so how do we reduce our time commitment to them. It’s simple! Use a calendar to plan for the upcoming weeks ahead, and take a note of which errands you can group together. Even if they take the same amount of time to do, they will be grouped together which means you’ll have longer consecutive work periods that tend to be more productive. Also, it will be super satisfying to tick off all your errands in one sweep!
